ROUTE 1

Villarta de los Montes is an area of ​​stone pine forests, which soon give way to the Mediterranean holm oaks. We can find the Valhondillo refuge, a forest house located at the top of the Sierra de los Bueyes. The Zahurdas viewpoint is located within the Cíjara Regional Hunting Reserve. It is a Nature Trail where you can see deer, fallow deer, roe deer and mouflon.

From Villarta de los Montes we continue towards Helechosa de los Montes crossing the “Sierra de la Rinconada” to get there, it has a wide valley that houses a small swamp
where the “Observatorio de la Berrea de Valdemoros” is installed.
From here we will follow the path until we reach “Puerto Lobo” and once we have reached this place we will take a path that leads to Helechosa de los Montes.

Before arriving we cross the Cañada Real, the Castañar Natural Pool as its places of great beauty.

It can be reached from Herrera del Duque, by the road that goes to Fuenlabrada de los Montes, deviating a few meters from a gas station on an asphalt road to later connect with a forest track. Another possible access would be from the road that connects Villarta de los Montes with Fuenlabrada de los Montes, diverting along a forest track that goes to Helechosa de los Montes.

Although the bellowing (deer) takes place during the second half of September and during part of October, it is worth visiting the observatory at any time of the year, there is the place of the Cíjara Reserve is spectacular.

ROUTE 2

When leaving Puebla we headed to Puerto Peña, through a place of holm oaks and olive trees. Leaving the Talarrubias cemetery to arrive by the Camino de los Bohonales to the Alandre lagoon, where we can see kites, bustards, little bustards and then go through the Hortezuelo fountain, and through the Zuhilla farm and reach Puerto Peña.

There we can go up to the viewpoint, eat well the restaurant that is in the swamp and then you could visit the bird observatory.

From Puerta Peña we can continue to Peloche by car, going around the García Sola swamp through some places of water and pine forests. In Peloche, there are many hiking routes, but if the weather is good the ideal is to do some water activity.

From Peloche we continue to Herrera del Duque, where there are many routes like:

  • Sendero los Golondrinos
  • Ruta Palacio de Cíjara
  • Sendero Pretura del Benzaire

ROUTE 3

Leaving Puebla we head along a road to Siruela, passing by the bridge that crosses the swamp, entering a road surrounded by pastures and sheep. Before arriving we can turn off to Risco, Santi Spiritus and Garlitos, small towns.

In Siruela we can see the palace of Fernan Nuñez, the church, the square, the convent of the Clarisas and the hermitage of Altagracia.

ROUTE 4

Leaving Puebla de Alcocer in the direction of Orellana about 5 km from the convent of the visitation leaves a dirt road on the right that is called cordel serrano, bird watching area. On that road you go to the bridge of Cogolludo, the Roman city of firefly and then if we continue along the road to Orellana we pass through landscapes of Extremadura pastures where you can see Iberian pigs, cows, deer …
